Once suitably attired, we set off to walk from the city down to the recently regenerated docks area. The mist was lifting but was still enough to make the docks look lovely.
The strange silver tube building on the right of the photo above is the Doctor Who Experience. We walked around the bay, arrived at the Doctor Who Experience, were ushered into the Museum of Gallifrey, got involved in a temporal engineering accident which resulted in us (and a large group of other tourists and a staff member) being transported into the TARDIS, helped the Doctor find three special crystals, ran away from daleks and weeping angels and rescued the TARDIS from time sensitive space squid.
We were quite tired by the time we made it to the gift shop but had grins that threatened to split our heads open.
Thomas did some damage to his Christmas money in the gift shop (thanks Grandparents!). We staggered out into the light and walked along the barrage, which is a weir which runs across the bay to Penarth.
As we approached the bridge and locks which allow boats out to the ocean, we were lucky enough to see the bridge open to let a boat into the lock.
After lunch in Penarth, we walked back to the docks and checked out the Norwegian church and the Millenium Building.
We did a bit of shopping and had a rest in the hotel before heading back to the docks for dinner, which gave us the chance to see the Millenium Centre illuminated.
